Processing Time

Hi All,

I am currently thinking to apply for UK HSMP, I was wondering if someone could reply to following questions:

1) How much time does it take to process the application, assuming if I apply today then how many months I will have to wait before my case is accepted or rejected.
2) If approved, then how much time they will give me before landing, assuming my case is approved today then from now on, is there any time limit before which I must enter UK.

1) HSMP initial processing takes 5 to 14 weeks.

2)you can apply for EC upto six months after initial approval.

3) You can land from the day when your Visa begins upto 3 months.

What is meant by applying for EC(please clarify term EC) after getting approval. If this is the case then I have 9 months to get enter into UK, is that right. (6 months EC + 3 months landing).

The initial stage is the application for HSMP approval. This can take anywhere from two weeks to two months or more, and seems to vary considerably.

After you receive an HSMP approval letter, you will have six months from the date of the approval letter to request entry clearance (EC) from the closest visa-processing consulate general or high commission. EC can be postdated as much as three months from the EC application date.

While I am unsure whether this is explicit policy, the suggestion has been made that you should enter the UK within three months of the effective date of the entry clearance visa.

So if your application goes in right now, you might end up leaving for the UK as early as October, or as late as a year or fourteen months from now, depending on processing times and your own preferences.

guidelines mention "up to 2 year" but has anyone got a visa for 1 year?
