USA to UK spouse visa help

Post by andymusicman » Fri Jun 20, 2014 7:44 pm

Hi, I got married in America last week to my fiance after two years. (She is a US Citizen). I am now back in the UK and she is in the USA completing the visa forms so she can come and live with me in the UK. She has been living with me in London on a visitor visa for 6 months prior to our marriage. We are just completing the paperwork and the confusing subject of my passport has arisen...

Can anyone shed some light on whether I need to send a certified copy of my passport to her for the visa to be accepted? Or will a standard colour copy suffice? If it does need to be certified can I send a copy of that or will I have to physically post the original certified copy to the USA? Phew! Hope that makes sense! Thanks for all help :-)

There's conflicting advice on this.

People have sent normal colour copies and been fine. Others advocate getting it certified.

I, personally, do not see the harm in certification and sending the original certification. You'll be wanting to send original payslips and original employment letters etc anyway - so the fact you have to add something to a parcel of documents is neither here nor there.
