Shattered Father - Pls Help Incorrect Details On Visa Stamp

Post by Singhy » Sat Jun 21, 2014 7:54 pm

Dear Mods ,

Couple of months back I asked a question around the settlement VISA application for my new born son from India -
http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... ml#p988099

Day before yesterday i received a notification that the VISA process is now complete and the application has been sent back to VFS. As expected we received the courier today with the settlement VISA. We were on cloud 9 to get the VISA for our littleone because finally i could get him back to UK .

But my happiness was shattered when i started checking the details on the VISA stamp - It says:

"Settlement Visa to join parents <My Name>" and they have printed my name incorrect.

I am so disappointed as i had made all my plans around this , booked my tickets back to India , taken time off work etc etc... and now it turns out that my name on the VISA has been printed incorrectly. With painstaking attention to details i filled all the forms correctly, paid all the money , collected all the required documents and the end result is that UKBA has printed my name incorrectly in my sons VISA.

I have double checked and I have mentioned my name correctly in the VAF4A form and also the Sponsor letter.

I am trying to search for any FAQs which cover this scenario on the http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/india/freque ... tions.html
but have not managed to find any relevant ones.

The only option i see here is to call the 00 44 1243 218 117 number charged at £1.37 per minute and speak to a representative.

Can i please request the MODS to suggest on whats the best route to follow now please? What needs to be done to get the details corrected on the VISA stamp for my son ? We applied through the VFS Delhi centre.

Any help here would be much appreciated please.

Regards, Y

I had this issue in 2009 with my daughter 1 week before she was due to fly to the UK to join me.

My visa agent contacted the VFS or BHC urgently and my father had to go to the BHC with the passport and copy of my passport and the corrected the visa while he waited. It only took a couple of hours, so don't despair, get in touch with VFS urgently or the BHC.

Many thanks CR001 for your response. Thanks for putting me at ease a little bit.

I called up the BHS new delhi just now and spoke to a lady and she said to drop an email to visqry.newdelhi@fco.gov.uk explaining the issue which they might be able to pick up on Monday. Also she said to call up a number 00441243217903 Monday morning (india time) and discuss this issue.

In parallel i have dropped an email to the form available at https://ukvi-international.faq-help.com/

I am conscious that your daughter's case was dealt with in 2009 and the processes might have changed a little bit.

Can i please also check -

1. Does the above stated process sound logical to you ?
2. Do you think we can send my wives cousin to BHC (when required) with my son's passport and a copy of my passport ? (Or is it mandatory to send a close relative for this purpose) - if you know anything around this please.

Regards, Y

She surely can but because we dont stay in Delhi and moving around with 4 month old has its own challenges (as you might understand) i was wondering if she could ask her cousin who is in Delhi to get this done.

I am not sure, you will need to check to confirm on Monday once you are able to contact someone at the visa application office where the visa was submitted or the BHC.

My daughter was traveling with my parents so I guess that was why no issue for my father going to get it corrected.

Hi CR001

So i spoke to someone on the paid helpline number and they have taken all my details. They mentioned that they will escalate this to their seniors who will then escalate this to HomeOffice who will review my case. This process can take (atleast) upto 2 weeks !

Was it the same experience for you ? Did it take that long to get in touch with the relevant people in BHC / Home office ?

Do you think calling up homeoffice directly (i am in UK right now) would help ?

As soon as I realised the mistake, I contacted my visa agent who contacted the BHC immediately as my daughter was traveling within 5 days and it was changed within 2 days.

You will need to be insistent, contact the office the application was made through, I am not sure who they are in the country where you applied. Or contact the BHC directly.
