Better and Quick option - OCI or PIO???

Post by psTier1 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:14 am

Hi, I have to travel in mid Aug and need to apply OCI/ PIO next week for family. Could any one please tell me which option is Quick and Better based on different experiences? I am ok with inperson application submission.
Thanks,

With regards to no of days PIO is slightly better than OCI but i think u have enough time to apply for OCI as well since OCI at max takes 1 month from the date of applying in person.

Thanks vij_sp_1980, for your reply. Are you sure OCI process takes max 1 month if applying in person. I have seen some time lines here, applied inperson around mid April or end of april are getting their passport back now. Is this a normal turnaround time or exceptions??? I really want to apply OCI but don't want to take big risk.

I have applied for OCI an year back and yes you are right that better to check recent timelines and take a better decision.

If recent timelines suggest OCI is taking bit late then PIO might be better option since u have travel in august.
