Question about having a child in the UK

Post by the_silk_route » Tue Jul 01, 2014 9:45 am

Hi, I'm wondering if someone can please shed some light on a question that has been in my mind for some time.

My wife is currently applying for a Spouse Visa. I'm British, and was born in the UK.

The current requirements for the Spouse Visa are £18,600 which I have met for her application.

My question is that when she comes to the UK, and if we have a child here in the UK, when she comes to apply for her Further Leave to Remain and Indefinite Leave, will I have to satisfy the £22,500 financial requirement or is it still the £18,600 financial requirement that I will have to satisfy?

Will having a child whilst in the UK make a difference to the financial requirement or not?

Please help.
Thanks!

There won't be any change as your child will be British.

Ok, so no matter how many children we have at the time of her applying for further extensions for her Spouse Visa we will still only have to meet the £18,600 financial requirement?

So, If for example if we have 2 children when it comes to apply for her FLR and ILR (i think that's what they're called  ) , we only have to meet the £18,600 financial requirement because I'm British and the children will therefore be British?

Thanks

Essentially yes - providing a) the kids aren't born abroad and b) you weren't born abroad.

I was born in the UK, and our kids will be born in the UK.

The only person who won't be born in the UK will be my wife, but she'll be here on Spouse Visa with a view to getting British Citizenship. But we will be trying for a child as soon as she gets here, and we will hopefully have our first kid within one year of her being in the UK on spouse visa.

So just £18,600 to satisfy when applying for the further stages of the Spouse Visa, even if we have quadruplets twice, so a total of 8 kids for example? Still £18,600? (Not that we're going to have quadruplets  )

This has been really bugging me for a while now.
So just want to make sure. :|

Thanks

There'll be no change to the financial level of £18,600.
