UK Settlement Visa application - Age difference

Post by gprit » Sat Jul 05, 2014 3:12 am

I am a UK Citizen/UK Passport
I have known my wife since April 2012,
We met in July 2012 and have spent most time since together in Thailand.
We have a son (British passport) born April 2013.
We were married in January 2014 (properly registrered/certified translation and legalized my Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and currently live in Thailand
My wife was granted a Schengen Visa to spend three months with me in France from March 2014.

All requirements can be satisfied eg:
Financial
Housing
English Test for wife etc

My one concern with the application is the age difference. I am now 67 and my wife is 24. Is there any further advice that can be given?

Though age isn't an issue but they might be concern about the gap,but as long as your relationship is genuine, you have less to worry about.
You might need to prepare yourself for a bit of scrutiny like interview and such to establish the genuineness of the relationship.

VAF4a form

Post by gprit » Mon Jul 07, 2014 2:58 am

Along the same lines so hope it's ok to post in this topic.
I am British/British passport.
Married to Thai lady who is applying to go with me to UK.
We have one son (15 months) who was born, and lives with us, in Thailand - he has dual nationality, a full British Passport and his birth has been registered at the British Embassy.
I have a few questions:
1) On the VAF4A Visa Application form VAF4A (Family settlement), s4.17 asks if my wife has any children. If I say Yes (but put Nationality as BRITISH)3.2
1a) s.3.2 do I check the box for Applying with no child dependents under 18?
1b) s.3.2 DOES THIS EXCLUDE him from the Financial calculations (as we are not actually APPLYING for him to join us - he is able to do so freely on his passport??
or...since he does not need a Visa, just say NO CHILDREN (although Photos we are providing show our son)??

2) Appendix 2 - s1.27 I am the Sponsor (spouse)....I presume I check the box saying I have a child (ie our son)?
3) Appendix 2 - s1.28 Presume I check the 'yes' box? How do I gauge how much is spent on support??

4) On the Appendix 2 form s2.8, Is it better to put Intend to work or not? In practice my wife will not work when she gets there, but will probably do so when he grows up/goes to school.

thanks
