Visitor Visa or Family Visa for mother

Post by myindia » Mon Jul 21, 2014 5:23 pm

Hi,

I have UK WP Tier 2 (ICT) and will be traveling to UK for the first time somewhere around August. My mother also wants to travel with me and wants to stay with me for a year or so. My dad travels a lot, so my mom would be staying home alone hence she will be traveling with me.

I was checking the UK Visa site, where they mentioned that for a family visit visa, the person (host) should be settled in UK. Does this mean the host should already be settled in UK or can the host be someone like me (traveling to UK for the first time)?

Also my WP expires in Sep 2015, so should I apply for 1 year visitor visa for my mom or 2 years or 6 months ?

My mom is a housewife and does not have either the marriage certificate or any property in her name or any FD in her name etc..? Don't ask how it is possible but it is so. So what kind of an image will it project to the VISA issuing officer, will he be convinced for my mom' case?

I know these are a lot of questions but request you to please help.

Thanks,
myIndia

If I get you right, you'll be coming to UK for the first time in August?if that's the case, you ain't regarded as a settled person yet.
Your mum can't get a visa for a year obviously, it's 6 months she can get.
Thirdly, it will be difficult to obtain that as it's gonna be your first time as well.
Of course it is,if you're so rich and she can proof the finances and tie to her home country beyond reasonable doubt.
