Question 2.5 on Set(M), confusing wording

Post by chickadee78 » Wed Aug 06, 2014 3:44 pm

Hi there,

In the application Set(M), question 2.5 says:

"How long have you been living in a relationship?"

I don't understand what this is asking. 2.1 asks, "When did you first meet your partner?" 2.2: "Where did you first meet?" 2.3: "When did your relationship begin?" And then 2.6: "When did you begin living together?"

So is 2.5 asking how long have we been living TOGETHER? That's redundant in 2.6.

Or is it asking how long have we been IN the relationship? Which is also redundant since in 2.3 it asks when did our relationship begin.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It is asking the combination.

You can be living with someone without being in a relationship - I've lived with a number of people who I wasn't in a relationship with.

AND

You can be in a relationship without living together.

So - it's asking for the intersection.

It may be the same as 2.3 or 2.6 - but it's the intersection of the two.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't understand why they didn't simply ask, "How long have you been living together in a relationship?" or "How long have you lived together since the relationship began?" Either would've been clearer, since technically, I've been living the entire time in the relationship, and that's all it's asking, if they want to be picky about it. ;)
