Passport application section 3

I have just naturalised and received my certificate and am now applying for citizenship
In section 3 it asks you to send all uncancelled passports, firstly does this include equivilant documents such as ID cards and secondly are these returned to you? As far as I am aware I can hold both a swiss and British passport at the same time?
