Eligibility for Citizenship

Post by sonub4ualt » Thu Aug 21, 2014 1:53 pm

Hi all,

My wife entered on a student visa on 15th Apr 2009 and converted to Tier 1 partner visa in Oct'2010 , subsequently had ILR on 5th Aug'2013.

She is planning to apply for citizenship on 26th Aug'2014. I am quite unsure as to whether she has to qualify for six years stay or 5 years stay. I have gone through guide for form AN and it says 5 years legal stay with last 12 months of ILR.

Is she eligible to apply?

Thanks
Sonu

3 yrs of stay as your wife will make her qualify I think.. I hope you are British citizen now.. and she is applying as your spouse ?

as she will have ILR by 26th for 1 yr.. she is fine..

so it is a normal route for her

https://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-c ... -can-apply

I think she is eligible in Oct 2105 .. make sure she is in the country 5 yrs ago on the date of appointment at NCS..

Any legal stay in the UK counts; she can apply on 26th Aug 14 assuming she was present in the UK 5 years ago.
