how to apply

Post by antonio. » Fri Aug 29, 2014 4:15 pm

hello, I am a european citizen and I have been working and living in the UK for 6 years. I never applied for permanet residency, but I heard for a EU citizen this is not a strict requirement to apply for british citizenship. I have no idea of where to start though, where can I find information on what documents I need? is it worth hiring someone to assist? I contacted a company and they charge about 700/900 pounds. Thank you!

You can start with reading the FAQs and relevant info for EU citizens.

Links to AN form and guidance notes are contained in the link above.

I have recently got citizenship this way (EEA, no permanent residence).

download Form AN, Guidance, and Instructions, and follow them. There are special sections for EEA citizens without perm. residence.

I worked all the time, and NCS only took my P60s for all years, and the two P45s I had , and the WRS certificate (you only need that if you are from Eastern Europe). I also have almost all payslips and bank and credit card statements, but the NCS did not take them, nor were they ever requested. Your mileage may vary, so take all evidence of residence you have with you to the NCS.
