I am living in the UK for 2.5 years now looking after my mother. I have Right of Abode here but wish to apply for British citizen (persons born before 1983 to British Mothers).
I am born in Canada. The problem is that the Referees and Identity state that they must have known me 3 years which I cannot do in the UK as I have been here only 2.5 years. It also states that if I am applying from out side of the UK that I can use a Referee from that country.
But I am not outside of the UK. I am inside of the UK but for less than 3 years.
Does anyone know if I can still use a person from Canada (where my actual home is) but because I am currently resident here in the UK....will they accept the referee from there?
Hope this makes sense and someone knows because if I go to all the trouble to send the forms to Canada from here (UK) and they don't accept it because they say I am living here then I have to wait another 6 months and start the process over. Besides they never refund the money you send if you get things wrong.
Hope someone knows and can advise me. Thanks.
