Hi

I reckon it won't be long before you hear from these guys. 16-20 weeks average wait after submitting Biometrics it seems.

Fingers crossed

Hi all

I made a few calls to Home Office and came across someone very helpful person who found my application and uploaded it on the system immediately. Therefore my timeline is as follows:

Application posted : 28/06/2014
Application received : 30/06/2014
Biometric and acknowledgement letter : 25/07/2014
Biometric done and sent : 25/07/2014

I was able to start work again on 29/07/2014 so now I have joined the waiting queue.

Hi waitingpatiently
Good to know everything is moving again for you. I can imagine what you went through. Perhaps even taking to stalking the postman for news. LOL

Hi Tiwi.
Very quick indeed. It appears you have luck on your side but it will be better even if it's a sign the UKBA are now processing all applications with speed.

Farzad1340

Hi, Dear Friends

My timeline:
Application posted: 16th July
BRP and acknowledgement Letter Dated: 1st August 2014
Biometric Letter Received: 05 August 2014
Enrolled Biometrics: 06 August 2014

My main concern is that my son has got admission from university but his student finance has not been accepted yet because Our limited leave (5 years) expires 14/08/2011 and they (student finance England) require BRP or ILR although they have been forwarded Refugee status months ago. I really do not know what can I do , because it seems under the best condition it will take more 3 months to have IRL/BRP and universities will start in 1-2 months.
Can anybody give me any advise in this regard ? Has anybody heard about similar situation ?

Hi farzad1340

Your circumstances are similar to 2 other cases. Unfortunately both had to self fund their first year. One got funding for year 2 now that she is settled. As for the other, their case is not complete at the UKBA which puts them in precisely in the same position as you. This means he will fund his 2nd yr in the same way unless a decision is made in the coming 8 weeks. (He is waiting 9 months on). SFE have become impossible recently.

I will update you if I hear anything useful from the other fella.

Dear hwima

Thanks for your reply and also very valuable information.Although the scope is a little upsetting as the Private finance companies also require the same documents as student finance England for any loan and even if it was possible they will charge a very high interest. I talked with a solicitor and he was suggesting for sending a letter to home office explaining the case and asking for their faster processing, but other friends believe that home office will not consider such a letters, what is your opinion on it ?? Thanks again

Dear farzard1340

I am also a university student, and they have accepted the letter from Home Office stating that my application is being processed. As with benefits and working etc they can call the Home Office hotline to check your status. The rule is that as long as you made an IN TIME application you are still treated as someone having their until the Home Office determine otherwise. My advise to you is speak to Student Finance some employees may bot be aware of this. Also get your local refugee council involved as they will be in a better position to liaise with the Uni. It has worked for me and I have already received my payment schedule from SAAS ( Scotland) tempted to believe it should be no different in England.

Hi farzad1340

Although I agree with waitingpatiently at large, I think there is no harm in trying especially if your solicitor thinks you should. But from experience the Home Office wouldn't consider your current grounds as the sole reason for expediting a case but who knows?

As for SAAS approving waitingpatiently's application for funding, I don't think that would happen down here now as SFE are quite heartless these days. I hate to be sound so negative but it appears to be what's happening on the ground. Certainly would contact the local refugee council for advice. You will have to ride your luck sometimes especially now as the stakes are high and the worst answer changes nothing in my opinion.

Dear All,

Application Sent: 08 March 2014
Application Received by UKBA: 10 March 2014
Biometric Letter Received: 19 March 2014
Enrolled Biometrics: 20 March 2014
Approval Letter Received: N/a
BRP Card Received: N/a

As you may know, I have to go under a serious surgery and need my parents with me, I did sent them a letter with all my medical documents attached. Not sure if they even bother to read it. It's more than 5 months and it's getting extremely frustrating.

Hi DaveSE19

That's really worrying. Did they acknowledge receiving the request for expediting the application and when did you make the request? :x

Hi Hwima

They have got my application and when I called UKBA they said it is "In Progress". That means at least they haven't lost my documents.

I also have got in contact with my local MP and asked them to intervene and send a letter to them. However, in overall I'm not too sure how these letter will be dealt with. UKBA looks in a mess right now and there is not a big chance if they even look at external letters.

If anyone got same experience, please share and tell us what would be the solution?

Best,

Dave

Hi Dave

My understanding of the situation is you sent the letters regarding your health as additional information in the initial application for settlement. That is fine but if you want it moved up the queue I believe you have to send in another application requesting to expedite the initial application otherwise the next time someone at the HO looks at it again is when it is in the processing stage, in this case that is already taking so long.

Stay strong people.

Slight downside the BRP comes with "REFUGEE SETTLEMENT", ever so minor to be honest, because it motivates you to save up to naturalise.
