Confirmation of non acquisition

So I have paid the £85 fee to receive my confirmation letter of non acquisition of british citizenship but only to get a letter back today to say they will decide within 6 months!!
There is no contact details and numbers I got of website does not work. Please can someone give me more info regards this or contact details so I can ring them.

hi,

i just got mine back a couple days ago. i was also really confused! they sent me the same generic letter saying "6 months", but also included the form i initially sent to them with a signature and UKBA stamp confirming i had not applied for citizenship. if you got that, then i think thats all you need. doesn't seem worth £85-what a rip off!

I rang them in the end and they did say that the letter saying 6 months should not have been in there and that what I got back is correct so I am going to SA embassy on Tuesday to renew my passport

i have had a heck of a day trying to get a bank or the police to certify a copy of my passport. they absolutely refused to do it! seems like i'm gonna have to make a trip to the SA Embassy to apply for my non-acquisition cert.

It's a nightmare isn't it. Can I just confirm you might be able to, I don't need my birth certificate as I've got my ID book??

Have you not receive confirmation of non acquisition back??

i only have my non-acquisition of British citizenship, but i still need to apply for the certificate from the SA embassy. Once i have the copy of my passport certified then i can apply, or i need to make the trip to London. still looking at the options.

with regards to renewing a passport, you don't need a birt cert. your ID would do. i took my current passport and copy of my birth cert. i didnt have my ID book. I think you need to complete a couple forms though. the last time i was there to change my surname and register my marriage,they were not very nice to people who didn't fully complete the forms.

Thanks for the reply. I got all the forms filled in, going to make copies of everything I've got and get ready for the wait tomorrow. Hopefully I've filled it in correctly.
