Yes I have got dates wrong, however when i called them, they said approved on 5th september ,so I confused with dispatched.
It surprised me that they have taken so long to update and now still have to wait for it to arrive at B'HAM

When i called up they told me that my application was approved on 4th September. But the status only changed on 24th September. So there is a delay of 20days from the time it is approved and the status updated on the website.

The only indicator of ACHHE DIN is sensex. Knowing where PM is from, that is easily understood.

So as long as the sensex is moving up, it is definitely ACHHE DIN!

I wish you all the best. I had booked holiday trip to India from 02-Nov in office but never bought tickets in worry of possible delays or queries. It looks like I might now just make it but it is going to cost an additional £100 approx to buy tickets now.

Does anyone tried to visit in person at London Embassy to get the OCI sticker and booklet once arrived in London.

I got flight tickets on 15 Oct and wondering if I could request a quick turnaround to get the sticker n booklet.
Also my office is just 10 mins walk to Embassy.

I read before that you can book an appointment and go to HCI to make a request to collect OCI sticker + card in person. Please take copy of your tickets and try to be as polite as possible :). They don't allow it all the time, but based on the situation. There were cases before when people got it. But never make that point as an argument in your conversation :)

Hello All,

I applied for OCI but my documents are returned to say I am not eligible as I am a civil servant in the UK. Is this correct? I thought if I was working with Home Office, Military or Security or a IT civil servant with MOD then I cant apply. I cant believe that all civil servants are ineligible to apply!!!

What are my other options? Please help!

I tried my best to contact HCI, London after holidays to consider my case but to no avail. Decided to apply for entry Visa at a cost of 268 quid for my family. And the entry visa was processed in 1 and half days (including application and collection in person). VFS is doing a gr8 job processing 1300 visas just after holidays. I stood in queue for 2 and half hours to submit my application.
I just dont get it why OCI takes 10 weeks. And even though visas are in London they wont update the status online for days.

Also nobody answered the phones at HCI London for days after holidays. When they do, they just slammed the phone soon they pick up. Quite a shame.
