I got my ILR in Croydon in 1.5 Hour. Fantastic Service

Post by K2004 » Mon Nov 08, 2004 5:06 pm

Hello all,

Finally I got my ILR and I thought I share my experience with you:

I have made an appointment for Croydon about a month ago, even though i wasnt allowed to apply for ILR then. but was thinking ahead.

on the day, my appointment was at 9 for 9:30 am. when i got there around 8:55 I told the security that i have an appointment at 9 , they made me jump all the queues (no appoinment/appoinment) and i found myself with the initial caseworker checking validity of my application. he asked me for my appointment reference number or a confirmation letter ( i never known there was a confirmation letter)so i gave him my appt reference number. then he browsed through my passport and made sure i have a bank statment and employer letter.

finally he pointed me to go upstair and pay 250, after doing that i was told to sit in the second floor and wait for my number, the time was around 9:10 am... five minutes later i heard them calling my number.

i went to see the caseworker, i explained to him my story in uk b4 handing my paper:

6 month English course
1 year Postgraduate full time
2 yrs work experience
4 yrs minus one month on normal permit.

he asked to see the aplication form and the passport, then asked me for employer letter then a bank statment. he made some photocopies. and told me to wait or leave the building , because it will take minumum 2 hours 2 process, thank god i choosed to wait. because they called me after 1hour and 15 minutes, and i was handed my passport back and told that i am granted settlment in the UK.then they cancelled my police registration form, and good bye. left the building at 10:45.

just to let you know that in the past i have tried to appply for ILR based on 2yrs TWES+2YRs BC and i was refused. also i have changed job around 3 times.

I advise everyone to make an appointment, and first thing in the morning, if not available choose another day but make sure it is 1st thing in the morning.

:D :P :o

Now i have one question : if i go overseas and get a new passport ...will i be allowed back to the UK? because in the letter they gave me they saying that i have transfer the stamp if i got a new passport before i travel..can i do that in the British Embassy?

Congratulations and well done. good to hear hear that if you have all the papers in order the system does work. i am not sure about going overseas to change your stamp it will be best to actually go on te website of the embassy that yu intend to visit and send them an email. otherwise i believe you can travel with both passports, i think there was something about that on this forum
