British Naturalisation MOWP Question

Post by Nox » Sat Oct 11, 2014 4:12 pm

Hi,

I am due to apply for british naturalisation in a couple of months and wanted to know what you guys think of the following:

On the 20th of September I drove in my local BP garage for fuel + flowers and chocolates. After filling up I went into the shop and picked up the flowers and chocs and made my way to the till. When asked, I mentioned my pump number and paid for the services with my debit card. Now, after one week I received a letter from the police with a crime ref number, saying I didn't pay for petrol on that day and that I should go back and pay. I checked my bank statement and saw that only the flowers and chocs were charged (13.50) and not the petrol (30.52).

I went back to the garage on the spot and asked for the manager. She was not in. I just paid the due amount and called back the police to say that I had paid. The officer also mentioned that the garage had already called them back to say I was there to pay.

So in effect there was no fine, conviction, caution or anything. the officer also said as far as they are concerned the matter is resolved and this is common.

My question is: Do you think this should be mentioned in the AN application form as per the Good character requirements? Making off without payment is now officially a crime which is unfair as there definitely are genuine cases of human error.

p.s. This is my local garage and I've been going there for 5 years without any incident and still go there. The manager later showed me the CCTV and mentioned she thinks it's a genuine cashier's fault.

Any advice/comments appreciated.

It's not a problem and you don't have to mention.

Is this still not a problem with the May2015 changes?

Also do PCN's need to be declared?

No, you do not need to mention it.
Being British is a state of mind.
