Child born in UK but residing in India since last 2 years

Post by georgeemagnets » Wed Oct 15, 2014 12:06 pm

Hello,

My son was born in UK and after 2 months my wife and son went back to India. Its been 2 years.
I am now applying for ILR from Tier 2 general, once I get the ILR. I can get my wife and son on a dependent VISA to UK. My question is
after that since I have an ILR, can my son born in UK get a british citizenship (although he didnt reside in UK after birth)?

Regards,
George

Indeed, but the MN1 application must be submitted and processed in the UK. Can probably use the NCS.

Vinny, Once his ILR is approved, which type of visa he needs to apply for dependents (wife and son) to bring them to UK as both are out of country. Can he not register his son as British out of country?

After grant of parent's ILR, child may register before returning to the UK. See MN1 form for details.

The application must be submitted (by post) to the UK even if the applicant resides abroad. Just use the overseas address on the application for the certificate to be posted there
