EEA National: Comprehensive Sickness Insurance

I hope you can help me with my query. I have searched the forum but I haven't found an answer to my query yet. Sorry if this issue has been discussed before.

I am am EEA National and I would like to apply for naturalisation. I was a university student between September 2006 and July 2009 but I am not sure whether I can claim student status because I may not have sufficient proof of comprehensive sickness insurance.

Throughout the period I had health insurance cover from my German insurer. I have a health insurance card dated to September 2009 (there is no start date on the card). However, the card does not have the EHIC design. I have a letter from my insurer confirming that my insurance provided comprehensive health cover within the EU. I don't have a policy document.

I also have an EHIC card dated to December 2011 from the same insurer (again, there is no start date on the card). This card has the EHIC design.

1. Do you think this is sufficient evidence to show that I had comprehensive sickness cover whilst I was a student?

2. Can I rely on a foreign EHIC card to show that I had CSI when making an application for naturalisation? I understand that EHIC is only acceptable if the person plans to stay in the UK temporarily. But when I apply for citizenship, my intention has to be to live in the UK permanently. On that basis, would an EHIC be acceptable proof of CSI?

Do I have to provide a statement confirming that I was planning to stay in the UK temporarily whilst I was a student?

German EHIC and a letter from your German insurer confirming your health insurance cover should be sufficient...As far as I understand, you have to explain in a cover letter that at the time when you were a student (covered by EHIC), you only intended to stay in the UK temporarily and that your plans changed later on (when you were exercising treaty rights other than as a student and did not need CSI).
