The right time to apply for Naturalisation

Post by baaghi » Fri Nov 14, 2014 10:53 pm

Hi Guys,

I have searched the forum for couple of pages but couldn't find the right information.

My wife has received her ILR (thru PEO) this week and I am due to apply for my ILR in post. However, going through the citizenship rules I am a bit worried now.

Can somebody please clarify:

If I apply my ILR through post and it takes 4 months to come back - Am i supposed to wait 12 months from the date when i receive my ILR = which means I'll be waiting for 4 + 12, eventually 16 months before I apply for naturalisation ???

Sorry if it sounds confusing, just want to know if the processing time of ILR is taken into consideration or I can apply through PEO to cut the whole chase.

Thanks for the help.

It will be 12 months from the date you are granted ILR before you can apply for citizenship. You will obviously get ILR quicker if you apply in person.
