Hello,
This is my first post here, where I want to ask for general advice from all of you. Any opinion and advice is highly welcome.
I am an EEA national from Latvia. I never been to UK before and want to travel there to visit my cousin. Recently we married with my girlfriend in Latvia (She is from Ukraine, and therefore is a Ukranian national). I spent hours on reading about EEA Family permit visa that we obviously need for my wive in order to to travel to United Kingdom flawlessly.
Basing on information from https://eumovement.wordpress.com/2010/0 ... to-travel/ we are thinking to abandon our application for EEA Family permit and ask for admission to UK when we will arrive there. Please advise me how to do that properly. I got a few questions and want to ask you to answer to the best of your knowledge:
1. Is that information provided on the above mentioned website actual? Is there any changes in these regulations?
2. What documentation we should take with us?(I got an EEA Passport for myself, Marriage certificate translated to english, my wife's ukrainian passport(she does not have any residence permits in EU))
3. Is there any reason for UK boarder guards to refuse an admission for us.
We plan to travel by plane, so any general advice on how to deal with airline not complying with EU regulations is highly welcome. Personally I did my research and can't find a reason for them to hold us, and I believe that they will stamp my wifes passport with "admission stamp" for 2 months with not to much hassle.
Why we are choosing that way instead of just getting EEA Family permit visa? It is too expensive and to much to do, also the processing times are not suitable. British consulate in Latvia hanged their visa issuing to a third party company, which is charging for 57gpb for "facilities use". And we are not in a mood to travel to Warsaw to file an application ourselves. Ryanair tickets from Riga to London is 30 euro at the moment, so we decided to give that opportunity a chance.
Any advice welcome!
From my side I promise to share our experiance with all of you when everything is done.
