Tier 1 G extension and Passport expiry

Post by pns » Sat Dec 06, 2014 1:31 pm

Hi members,

I am in a tricky situation as my passport is due to expire in Apr 2015 and I've to make an application to UKBA by Jan 2015. Is there any rule/policy that mandates the passport validity (like 6 months etc) for any given period? I read through the policy guidance and it makes references to 'current passport' only and nothing about validity period. What if the application process prolongs for more than 4 months? I can however apply for a new passport which would take around 6 to 8 months. I am trying to avoid the delays in this process as we all know that the last day to make an extension is apr 4 2015.

Please shed your thoughts in this regard and point me to any relevant posts/policy/rules. Thanks in advance.

Your passport needs to be valid at the time of application. Apply for your extension in person if you have concerns that a postal application will be delayed.

thanks for your response. Thats a lot of money if I've to go through peo route.

Did you mean the passport needs to be valid on the day of application and not required to be valid on the day of the approval?

Others - if you have been through this situation earlier, please put your thoughts forward. Thanks.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I have one more question in this regard. Is the TOC(transfer of conditions) needed after I get a fresh passport? I think this is more of the visa transfer when there is a stamp on the old passport. Instead I must be using change of circumstances form to notify the change in my personal/identity details.

Any thoughts/agreements on this pls.
