Hi All,
I have a question regarding citizenship by birth for children of EEA nationals (children born in or after 2014).
If one of the parents is Irish but has not been in the UK for 5 years yet, can the child still acquire BC by birth? I know that EEA citizens normally have to exercise treaty rights for 5 years prior to the child's birth for them to acquire BC at birth but I remember to have heard somewhere that Irish nationals are automatically regarded as settled if they live in the UK because of a separate agreement between the UK and Ireland - is this true?
Thanks in advance.
