Tourist visa / family visa query : need help

Hi Guys,

I need some information regarding my dad's UK tourist visa. My Mum passed away few days back and my dad is alone in india now. He has got UK tourist ( family visitor) visa untill 8th April 2015.

Question1:
My question is that can i apply for a fresh 1 year tourist visa now ( today is 5th jan 2015) ? i want to get this done as he need not to come back to India to get the visa stamped for next 6 months.

Question 2:
Can i get a UK dependent visa for my dad ~? is there any provision to get him there via this route?

My details;
I am a British citizen living in UK for past 10 years.
This is 3rd approved family visitor visa for my dad in past 5 years.

I will really appreciate any help/information.

Can only apply for visit/family visa from country of residence. There is no one year visit visa, only 6 month, 2, 5 and 10 year. All are still subject to the 6 months in any 12 test and the 'genuine visitor' test.

There is an Adult Dependant visa but the criteria are practically impossible to fill (use search function), visa costs nearly £2k and a refusal would mean no more visit visas as an attempt to settle has been made.

But my question is still there. He already got a family tourist visa , can he apply for a 2 year visa before the existing visa expires ? or he hass to wait for current visa to get expire

I think so - but if the visas overlap the latter will cancel the former.
