Naturalisation - 5 years includes 1 yr ILR?

Post by wiltshire » Tue Jan 06, 2015 6:31 pm

Hi,

I'm looking to apply for naturalisation soon. Entered in May 2009 (Ancestry), ILR issued March 2014.

This is probably a stupid question, but in https://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-c ... -can-apply it states I must have:

"lived in the UK for at least the 5 years before the date of your application "
"had indefinite leave to stay in the UK for the last 12 months (or permanent residence if you’re an EEA national)"

As of May 2014 I've already been in the UK 5 years, so does that mean I can apply from March 2015? Or do I need to wait until May 2015? I'm sure it's March but want to double check it's 5 years INCLUDING 1 year with ILR (not 5 years + 1 year ILR on top).

5 years in total including 12 months of ILR.
You should be ok to apply in March this year as long you meet rest of the requirement.
