Tier 2 general

Post by roy123456 » Wed Jan 14, 2015 11:58 pm

Manci,

could you please help with my query.

My wife is a Btech graduate (completed 4 years ago) accompanying with me in uk since 4 years
am in Tier 2 ICT working with same sponser since oct 2010 and visa expires in march end and after that the extention is not there as vacany closing down.
my wife(currently dependent on T2ICT) wants to search for a sponsor who offer a job for her matching with her skill set.
1. For Tier 2 general visa to search for a sponsor, is any prior experience is required or fresher's are also eligible for tier 2 G.
2. Assume once my wife gets Tier 2 General, then I move from tier2 ict to PBS dependent on my wife , in this case the big advantage is i can work permanent jobs? is any drawbacks in this option
3. can I shifht from t2 ict to t2g and search for jobs, in this case I should eligible to work only contract jobs not permanent.

what r the drawbacks for option 2 and option 3

warm regards,
roy

the requirement for T2G is that the job must be NQF level 6 with an appropriate salary, see the codes of practice. It is up to the employer to assess whether she would be suitable to fill a vacancy:

once she has T2G leave you can switch to become her dependant and can take any job, short or long term, permanent or temporary.

3. can I shifht from t2 ict to t2g and search for jobs, in this case I should eligible to work only contract jobs not permanent.
you can switch to T2G if you find a sponsor. Steer clear of illegal umbrella companies.

this depends on your personal circumstances but start the T2G job search for your wife and/or yourself asap because once you find a sponsor they'll have to do an RLMT (unless the job is a shortage occupation, which takes min. 28 days. Also check that the prospective employer is a T2G registered sponsor:

Thanks Manci,

as i came uk oct 2010as Tier 2 ICT with family, i would feel on 10 year route i can eligible for visa irrespective of whatever visa it is.
In T2G, i heard generally sponsors ask associates to search for job themself as a contractors and payrol will run for them.
also i heard the recruitment agents (who offers jobs) doesnt prefer T2G visa associates for contracting positions, its very rare to get jobs unless it is a pure niche sill in IT. This is the information which has been posted in our forums. its very hard to get calls if you are T2G. the risk is 80% that you dont get jobs on T2G visas. is it true?
1. is it safe to move from T2G from T2 ict (spent almost 5 years) and search for job in next 5 to 6 months? - the only advantage is if you continue for 5 years, you will get ILR,
2.Or is it better to go back homecountry if T2ICT extention not provided by the sponsor - advantage is avoid the risk of searching jobs in T2G
3. My son is also staying since 2010 with me, if he stays until 2017 as a depandent(as father is working) i heard for 7 years, kids are eligible for ILR?
Thanks
Roy

what you describe are activities of illegal umbrella companies whose licence can be revoked any time - steer clear of them

1. is it safe to move to T2G from T2 ict (spent almost 5 years) and search for job in next 5 to 6 months? - the only advantage is if you continue for 5 years, you will get ILR,
your choice

your choice

search the forum for the 7 year rule and how it is implemented - there is plenty of information
Thanks
