Main applicant extended Tier-1 should dependent also extend?

Hi,

Main Applicant - TIER-1 ( in UK from 2010)
Dependent Applicant - PBS dependent (in UK from 2011)
Latest Extension of Main Applicant ( in 2014 for 3 year till 2017)
ILR pending ( 2014-Sep)
Dependent visa expiring ( 2014-Sep)


I am on Tier -1 and I did one more extra extension ( ILR sep-2017 but I extended till 2017 just to be safe).
Now, I was a member of one forum and there is one confusion arisen:
It says that when I did latest extension in 2014 for myself alone, my dependent visa has been invalid and she need to do extension.
In my knowledge if I am not changing visa category then it is not needed.
Also we can go for ILR in this year when my dependent visa is expiring
