Some questions about the expire date of HSMP visa.

Post by george1227 » Wed Sep 12, 2007 6:01 pm

I got the HSMP visa. The valid date is Oct. 1st, 2007 and the expire date is Oct 1st, 2009 is written on it.

1. I'm going to arrive in England at Mar 15th, 2008. First of all does HO allow me to arrive so late?

If the answer of the first question above is OK or no problem, then go on the second and third question as follow.

2. I found the expire date written on my visa is Oct. 1st, 2009. Is the deadline I have to leave England Oct. 1st, 2009 or Mar 15th, 2010 if I can't get the extension of HSMP?

3. Is there any adverse impacts on the HSMP extension after 2 years and the application for PR after 5 years.

Thank you for assistance.

There don't appear to be any restrictions on when you arrive in the UK once you have entry clearance. You have leave to remain only as long as your visa permits it, ie until 1 Oct 09, unless you manage to extend your leave. If in the longer term your objective is ILR, then you should just bear in mind that your five-year qualifying residency will begin from the date you arrive, ie 15 Mar 08, so the current requirements would require you to apply for FLR twice (in Sept 2009 and Sept 2012) before you would complete your qualifying period for ILR (of course, all this may well change).
