I have posted before about this , not sure if was here though , but I am in need of urgent advice.
I applied for the FBR Irish citizenship through descent , the embassy been been very patient with me as one document is missing my Irish born grandmother photo ID. She refuses to send it. I have tried for couple months now, phoned her asked other family so called family members to mediate even wrote asking her to send it direct , she wont. My grandmother and I are not close I know that's more than likely the reason why for her refusal. The embassy have been wonderful but wont process it without her ID and have given me a week to either get the ID in or get my documents sent back. I am so angry at my grandmother, im trying to reunite with my American husband and I could just cry.
Please can someone advise me if the embassy should process my application without her photo ID? they have everything else, birth/marriage certificates everything. Is there a way? The surindar singh route is a desperate last measure, as I have two children from previous relationship one of which starting options for gcses, to take them out of school , lose school places , leave our home for possible months seems impossible. I would also lose my job here. Hense the renunciation of british citizenship way. It is the most non disruptive way to reunite with my husband.Im ashamed to be british , and hurting that every thing I do to just have a normal family life is failing.
