Spousal Visa

We are considering moving abroad, from the UK to somewhere within the EU. At present my partner has a spousal visa while I am British. Would this invalidate their visa or just make it impossible to renew. I ask as we don't know how long we will be abroad and plan to settle permanently in the uk but the economic climate means I might need to work abroad first and we dont want to be parted.

One requirement for the spouse visa to remain valid is residence in the UK as that is what the application was for.
If you are in an EU for 6-12 months you could always use the EU route to re-enter however this would re-set the clock to apply for ILR.
