Hello,

I am a British citizen living in Canada. I am contemplating moving to London for a job. The job is a one year contract but could be extended.

I've been living with my partner for a number of years. We are engaged but probably won't get married for several years. He is a Canadian citizen. Is it possible to bring him to the UK with me? My job pays over 36,000 so i can support us both, but it is only a one year contract.

Would my partner be allowed to work, and would i have to move there first before he applies?

If you have proof of cohabitation covering a full 2 years, your partner could apply for an unmarried partner visa which would be valid for 5 years, has a financial requirement etc.

What is your current earning? and how long have you been earning that amount?

Will the job be available within 3 months of your return to the UK?

Yes he will be allowed to work, if he succeeds with the visa application.
