child born in uk applied passport from overseas

Hello!
My child was born in uk after my ILR. I had to travel to my country emergency. Therefor i took him in my country travel document and i applied his british passport from overseas. Its been a year that i applied his passpor but they said that its with overseas team undergoing security checks. I am so worrying that why it is taking so long. Please does anyone have clue? Please help...
