Knowledge of English

Post by conno26 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 11:22 am

My daughter is planning to apply for citizenship later this year. She has been resident in UK for 5 years and has an ILR. She is presently studying for a degree at a university in Epsom and will complete her course in 2017. Prior to this she attended Cornwallis Academy in Maidstone where she obtained a GCSE in English. Is this GCSE sufficient to satisfy the Knowledge of English requirement?

No, she will need either a UK Degree or she will have to pass English level B1 from the approved list of test providers, unless she is from one of the exempt English speaking countries.

List of approved test providers from 6th April 2015 :

She will also need to do the Life in the UK test.

Will she have held ILR for a full 12 months when she applies??
