Rules to apply for the citizenship

Post by Truevirtues » Tue Mar 10, 2015 9:28 pm

Hi,
I haven taken an apt. from nationality checking Service for citizenship application for 3 kids(born in uk) for 2 adults ( including me and my wife) of the basis of ILR on 5 year basis.

I have been told by the checking service, that my wife cannot apply for the citizenship at the moment because she was not in UK 5 years ago on the date I am applying for the citizenship.
(e.g. If my appt. application date is 6 April 2015 , and if my wife was not in UK on 6 April 2010 , she cannot apply for it with US.)
MY Question is 'does this rule exist'.????
Thanks
Regards
KS

Yes it does exist and the guidance notes are very clear about this.

Each person applying has to have been physically present on the exact day 5 years preceding the application that HO receives the application. This includes been away abroad on holiday.
