spouse visa first or tourist

Hi guys was looking for some advice.

I have a fiji boyfriend who I have known nearly 5 years now we want to get married one day but I would really like him to visit England first before I do a spouse visa. Is this possible or will it automatically be rejected as I am the girlfriend.

Success with a visitor visa application depends on whether he can prove that there are strong ties to his home country and a reason for him to return to Fiji without overstaying.

he left is job at new yr in dec so no longer has employment at the moment and even though he has a house he does not have a mortgage. What else can be used as strong ties.

The lack of permanent employment may weaken the application. Property ownership and family who are dependent on him (with the evidence to prove this) would help. Don't be tempted to withhold the existence of your relationship. All information submitted is held on record and you would face a problem if you later apply for a fiance or spouse visa and are asked how long the relationship has subsisted.
