Question about certificate of Right of abode

Post by hunanuk » Wed Mar 25, 2015 9:20 pm

Hi everyone,

As we know a 'certificate of entitlement of ROA' can been issued to a British citizen who does not have british passport.

But what will happen to this certificate after a british passport be issued? My understanding is, this certificate will be canceled.

Am I right?

I did research on 'The Immigration (Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode in the United Kingdom) Regulations 2006' , I'm not quite sure. Thank you.

A certificate of entitlement may be revoked by the Secretary of State for the Home Department, an immigration officer, a consular officer or a person responsible for the grant or refusal of entry clearance, where the person who revokes the certificate is satisfied that the person in possession of the certificate (whether or not this is the person to whom the certificate was issued)—
(ii)a United Kingdom passport describing him as a British subject with the right of abode in the United Kingdom,
