ILR for spouse living more than 4 years

Post by genzoman » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:52 pm

Hi, I have heard from a friend that if an applicant married a citizen for more than 4 years he/she can get the ILR after one year instead of 5 years from the date he/she entered the country.
Is that right? has anyone heard that too?

Ps. I've just brought my wife here with spouse visa, we applied after July 2012 :( but we have been married since 2007

I think I heard of something similar ages ago, and there might possibly have been such a rule, not sure about it though.

However, if there was such a rule, it is certainly closed now. No alternative but the route for spouse visa to settlement is now 5 years.

The 4 year concession for couples who were married and living outside of the UK was withdrawn a few years ago.

Thanks @Casa and @Wr1
Yep i know there was a rule for couples who have married for more than 4 years...and correct , they have withdrawn it 3 years age
but the thing i have heard is that the duration to get the ILR is going to be 1 year instead of 5 years for these special cases.
any ideas?

No, there is such rule for such 'special cases'. It is a 5 year route to ILR, there is no quick route or short cut, regardless of length of marriage.
