Right of Abode

Post by IainH » Fri Apr 17, 2015 2:54 pm

Hello All,
I've recently applied for a "Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode" to be put in my new Australian passport. I had one in my previous passport as my mother is British and I was born before 1983. My problem is I can't get a straight answer from anyone on how long it's going to take. The Home office site says "up to 6 months" whereas other sites say around 10 weeks. Is there any chance it could be faster? I need the passport to work and if it takes 6 months I'll be living on the street.

Australia allows dual nationality so you can apply for UK passport?

EDIT: You are correct, from overseas it does take time in either case. Sorry for previous suggestion.
Being British is a state of mind.
