I had the same experience when I arrived via Ireland. Afterward, the immigration office at Heathrow as well as the Home Office both indicated (on the phone) to me that it would not be a problem, but that for the purposes of later demonstrating residency from x date, I should also retain boarding cards and any other evidence showing my arrival in the UK on that date. Their suggestion seemed to be that the arrival stamp in Ireland (within the CTA) would suffice. For some reason, I was not 100% reassured. I too wonder if anything else can be done retrospectively, or whether I'll be holding my breath about this for a few years.

I entered the UK a few weeks ago under HSMP.
My connection flight came from Dublin to Birmingham, where I live now. When I arrived to Birmingham, my passport was never stamped. I asked an immigration officer, and he told me that with internal EU flights you don't need a stamp, since my passport was stamped in Dublin.
My question is, is this OK? or do I need a proof for the date I arrived into the UK?
Anybody could help me with this?
Best Regards.
