One director leaves the company

Hello,
Me and my partner had applied for entrepreneur visa together, I had got my visa in oct 2013 but unfortunately my partner couldn't get his application approved. After fighting the case at every level he is completely exhausted and decided to quit on it or probably try to switch on to some other category. My question is " What is the procedure for him to formally resign from the company?" do we have to involve any Solicitor? And how it gonna effect me in future? Please reply my query if any body knows the answers. I would specially request to senior members, moderators to throw some light on my situation.

The help would be highly appreciated.

No need for solicitor
For extension point of view you have to meet every criteria individually

You buy over the 50% shares and Accountant to report to Companies House. Think it possible this way
