Spouse of BC - 3 years from when

Post by jollyjoker » Mon May 04, 2015 10:39 am

Apologies if this topic has been covered before but please can you provide thoughts on the below:
-Year of marriage: 2008
-Spouse became BC through naturalisation (6 year residence route): 2015
-First started living in the UK in 2011 (spouse started in 2009, I joined later)
-Got ILR in 2014 same time as spouse on 2 year cohabitation
-From the above, I do not fulfill the 5 year residence requirement for naturalisation
-Question is: do I meet the 3 year spouse of BC requirement? Does the 3 year start from the date my spouse has become BC or can I apply for citizenship immediately as long as I have been married for 3 years and been resident in the UK?

As your spouse has BC and you have ILR and have completed 3 years of residence in the UK, you qualify to apply for British Citizenship.
That's assuming you meet all the standard requirements, periods of absence etc.
