Naturalisation Application (Spouse of BC)

My wife has ILE, obtained overseas (under old spouse visa rules).

She intends on applying for naturalisation in August/September, which is 3 years after we entered the UK after obtaining her visa. My wife took and passed her Life in the UK test in 2007 (during the previous time we lived in the UK) - first question is to confirm that this certificate is still ok to use for naturalisation? It was used to obtain ILE.

As far as knowledge of English requirements, that is met because she is from one of the listed majority English speaking countries.

Also, one of the questions on the application form asks for the country you intend to reside in. The intended country rule does not apply to spouses of British citizens, so does the country you intend to live in question still need to be completed? I'm not sure I recognise the point of that question when it is irrelevant according to their rules.

1. LIUK test is fine. I took mine during older format and used it for after newer format was introduced last year.
2. Its the country within UK, i.e England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland. Please write the the one you intend to live in. I wrote England.

The question exists on the form because it's a legal requirement for people to intend on living in the UK after they've naturalised. However, this is not a requirement for a spouse of a British citizen.

Therefore my question is if it's necessary for such an application (under 6(2) of the rules - i.e. spouse of BC) to complete that question. It seems superfluous to the legal requirements.

[On a side point, I disagree that it's asking to specify constituent country, although doing so isn't a problem. The reason I say this is to do with the reason for that question in regards to those not applying under 6(2) of the rules as mentioned above.]

I am not sure how you reached that conclusion. On form AN after Q 2.3, it says clearly:

If this country is outside the United Kingdom and i) you are not married to or the civil partner of a British citizen and ii) you intend to enter into or continue Crown service, service in an international organisation or employment with a company or association established in the United Kingdom, please include a letter of explanation.

Which in simple words means that if the country you wrote is outside UK, and either you are not spouse of a British Citizen OR you work abroad in UK associated job, then provide a letter.

So if you are a spouse of a UK citizen, you just need to write the country and provide no explanation.

Just asking a question based around the application form and differing rules for a 6(2) application. I didn't give any indication that we're going to attempt to hide anything.
