Bank Loan for an HSMP Visa holder?

Post by AnkurS » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:56 pm

Hi,

I just wanted to know if it is possible for an HSMP holder to get a bank loan just 6 months after landing in UK? This loan would be to pay for the tuition fees in one of the universities in UK and the course itself would run for 2 years full time.

Any help on this is greatly welcome.

Regards,
Ankur

Don't think so, to get any kind of loan you have to be living in any country for at least a year and you should have some earning background or any gardian asset declaration.

For a personal loan from a bank normally bank requires 3 years of stay.
For credit card try hallifax credit card, should be able to get one pretty easy.

I just said, I could get one through my bank. It is through other issuers that I haven't. And I haven't bothered with a loan as I don't need one. I only want credit cards to accumulate points. Otherwise, the ones I got serve me well

Well.. from your replies it seems like it is not possible for someone on an HSMP to get loan in UK. By the way, does anyone of you have in the past enrolled/have plans to enroll in full-time course at any university while being on an HSMP? or for that matter you know someone who did this or plans to do so now? When I said bank loans I meant student loans for graduate studies! Hope I get some favorable replies this time :)

Hi Ankur,
I did try to get enrolled in a college in UK for level 1 basic course.
I have been in UK for 3 yeas now and one college asked me to pay 4 times the normal fees and the second college asked me to pay just the normal fees. As far as loans for student is concerned I have no idea mate.
