British Citizenship Application and supporting documents.

Post by hussainma12 » Mon Jun 22, 2015 7:10 pm

Hi guys. I had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer for me.

We did our ILR and got it about 14 months ago. My husband is British and so we were planning on doing our application for my citizenship. The only thing is, last time when we did it my husband provided lots of his own personal finances to cover me as I wasnt working. This time round I noticed the supporting documents requested are not alot. They only ask to see that your paying taxes? I am currently working in tescos and my earnings are low about 600 pounds a month.

So does my husband need to provide his bank statements payment slips and work reference letters? Or do I submit those things Im kind of confused. Do they want to see my finances even if it is very low? Or Do i combine them with my husbands give all his details as well as mine. I would love to know how everyone else did this. Oh also btw I volunteer at the NHS trust as patient befriender. But obviously don't get paid for this.

I would be greatful if someone actually breaksdown everything and i mean all they submitted and was successful.

Many thanks everyone!

Advice about the supporting documents supplied plus this section 7.7 please... : )

Thanks

The supporting documents are listed in the form :

Your Passport and photos
Partners British Passport
LIUK pass notification
English B1 test certificate or equivalent
Marriage certificate

You don't need to submit payslips and bank statements. Employment is not a requirement and there is not need to provide proof of income etc. I took my last P60 with me when I applied and they took a copy of that at NCS.

Re 7.7, you strike out the whole paragraph.

Cr001. Many thanks!

Sorry to be annoyance. Just want to re clairfy. It is not the same as ILR where my husband provided all his finances. Even my payslips and bank details HR reference letter etc is not required? I'm amazed theyre only wanting very little. Hmm?

No, financial documentation is not required for a citizenship application, unless you are an EEA citizen who has been exercising treaty rights etc and this is not relevant to you.

Please make sure that on the day that HO receives your application, that you were physically present in the UK on the same date 3 years ago. If you were not, your application will be refused.

Apply using NCS at your council as then you get to keep all your original documents including passports.

My hubby applied under 3 year rule - marriage to a BC so all we provided was Both our passports, Hubbys BRP, marriage certificate ( and certified translation as my marriage certificate isnt english ) Life In the UK and ESOL B1 certificate. They were all photocopied by the council lady apart from the Life In The Uk Pass Notification letter which they keep and we get a copy. Thats it.

Sorry forgot to ask you guys. Did you take any letters to show that you live at your current address. If so did you take aletters from a period of 3/5 years?

Thanks again!
