I'm brazilian and my fiancée is brazilian and german. We both live in Brazil, and we're planning to move to the UK next year, more precisely on May/08, after getting married in December. We've being planning this for the last 2 years, but there are some questions which I couldn't find the answers anywhere, so maybe you could help me with your experience.

1) To those who have applied for the EEA Family Permit before: How much money you had to prove your EEA sponsor (wife/husband) had in order to secure the issuing of the EEA Family Permit? I know this is something relative, but what I'm looking for are just some values in order to get the idea. We're saving something like 10k £. Do you think something like 7k £ would be enough?

2) We both have degrees (I'm an Electronics Engineer and she's an Business admin.). I'm fluent on English and she has been studying it for the last the 2 years. Should we attach to the Applying Process of my EEA Family Permit a certified translation of our diplomas? I've been studying the EEA Family Permit process, and it seems to me that my wife would qualify as a self-sufficient person (because of the money) and afterwards as a qualified person. Am I right?

It all depends on whether you want to pledge "self sufficient" or "employed". For the EEA family permit it does not matter much, but once you are in the UK you need to apply for a residence card, and then you need to be employed (or show enough money). I think 1.5K per months would be nice. The family permit is for 6months, so you are looking for about 9K.

Now the problem is that your wife is the EU citizen, so technically she needs to get the job. And an admin position may not have a salary high enough for the two of you. Although once you have a job with a decent salary, you can take that into account, too. I am just not sure which technical status she would pick then.
