Original HSMP approval letter for dependent EC

Post by ns7 » Mon Oct 15, 2007 8:50 am

Hi,
I am in the U.K. on HSMP visa.

Today VFS New Delhi didn't accept dependent visa application for my wife and kid on the basis that it was not having original HSMP approval letter enclosed.

They told that its a new inclusion. (But it is not mentioned anywhere on the site.)

The original letter is with me as I needed it in my travel, job, NI number etc.

If I courier the same to India then would I be requiring the same in my travel as I may visit India next month?

Regards,
ns7

HSMP approval letter only valid for EC, once you have UK visa on passport you don't need HSMP letter any more (You may need it for your extention, not sure), so send it away!

Hope this helps

Approval letter is definitely required for HSMP extension.

But I am compelled to follow what VFS told. So I sent my second Fedex courier of the week :(

Feeling lucky that they didn't ask for my original passport ;)

I am tired of arranging documents (initially while applying for my visa and now for my family). But the other name of HSMP is "Documents and more documents" ;)

The moral of the story is that always apply for the HSMP visa together with the family.

Approval letter is definitely not required for HSMP extension as they only ask your HSMP ref# in the extension form .

Today my wife went to VFS Delhi with my original HSMP approval letter then they said though it was not required but since she had brought it so they would attach it along with the application.

I also got the email reply for BHC mentioning that they only need the copy of HSMP approval letter. But it was late and application was already submitted.

So the fact is that original HSMP approval letter is not needed for dependent visa.

From my experience I can say that VFS staff at Delhi is untrained and unknowledgable, so guys be careful while putting up your case.
