FLR(M) renewal

Post by 3y123 » Sat Jul 04, 2015 3:51 pm

Its 6 weeks to the expiry of my FLR(M), My wife who is British takes child benefit for our 2 and half year old son, My son is not my dependent. My question is will the child benefit she is taking affect my renewal? In case it does how do we undo it? Also does anyone know how long FLR(M) renewal wait periods usually take? i am considering fast track as i need it by September for further studies.

Your wife is entitled to claim child benefit in her name and it won't affect your application. FLR(M) postal application can take up to 3 months to process. If you apply in person at one of the PSOs for the premium fee of £1049, assuming all your documents are in order, a decision should be made on the day.
You will also have to pay the new NHS Surcharge of £500 before submitting your application. The surcharge is the same for both premium and postal applications.
By the way, as long as you submit your application before your current visa expires, you will retain the same legal status as you have now.
