Irish citizen returning to Ireland

I am trying to contribute to Anglo-Irish relationships here, and your help on it )

I am Irish residing in Northern Ireland and my non-EEA parents are here with me on Family Permit / Residence Card-in-the-making. I am inspired by Surinder Singh path working for UK and need to establish whether the same route works for Ireland, i.e. will I be treated as EEA as opposed to a purely native citizen, thus issuing my parents with EEA4-type permits?

Also, I need to exercise rights in UK in one of the capacities (work, self-employment, etc). Once returned to Ireland, what are the requirements for me to occupy myself with back home (in Ireland) and how would this impact the status of my dependent family members?

Any suggestions?
