only 1 month given on spouse visa?

Post by thunderb0lt » Tue Jul 28, 2015 7:08 pm

Hello

I am enquiring for a friend. His wife has been given a spouse visa but it's only for 1 month.

Valid from: 10/07/2015
Valid until: 09/08/2015

The visa has been given by New Dehli. As I understant they visa should be for a period of 33 months or am I missing something.

Any help is full appreciated.

Thanks

It definitely appears to be an error. You're correct that a spouse settlement visa should be issued for 33 months.

It is correct. The visa is issued for 1 month to facilitate travel to the UK. Your friend/wife should have received a letter also explaining that the visa holder has 10 days to collect their BRP Card when they arrive in the UK and the BRP card should be for the duration of the visa (30/33 months).

Thanks for prompt reply Casa and confirming my understanding? What would you say is best way forward with this. Contact New Delhi and query with aim to get correct visa or arrive to UK with visa as it is and fix once in UK.

Thanks

Thanks CR001, this is the first confirmation I've seen that the initial visa is only issued for 1 month with the BRP 33 months. One thing that's puzzling however...why would the BRP still be issued for 33 months when originally the reasoning for the addition 3 months was to enable applicants to have sufficient time to re-locate. The extra 3 months seems to be pointless now. :?

No idea Casa. I would guess that the BRP would be valid for 30 months then having given the applicant 1 month to travel. The mind does boggle with some of the things HO does
