Child tax credit over payment problem & naturalisations

Post by gng » Fri Aug 07, 2015 2:51 am

Hi

I have already applied for naturalisations on 06 July 2015,

Now have a problem and need advise please

1. We have recently received a letter from HMRC, They have renewed our child tax credit claim for the year 04/2014 to 04/2015 and declares that we have received more than what we were entitled to, we received 2000 pounds extra. and saying that they will deduct the 2000 pounds money from our future entitlements of CTC. like in this current year 04/2015 - 04/2016 £500, next year 2016-2017 500 pounds, 2017-2018 £500, 2018-2019 £500,.

Can you please advise if the above will cause any problems in my naturalisation application? please advise further

Are you a self employed person? Speak to an accountant they will help you out regarding this.
It is really good to help and everyone deserve to be respected in life. Good luck.

As I always tell clients, if you do not know what it is and where to get it, then most likely you do not need one

This is a document applicable only to those who file their taxes through self-assessment (due to either being registered as self-employed or foreign income)

If you were filing self-assessment you would know what it was

Those who file taxes through self-assessment, periodically get a self-assessment statement of account from HMRC in the post, about
once a quarter.

There is no way to get it other than it just comes by itself from time to time, just like a utility bill.

But if you are not filing taxes through self-assessment, you do not need to have included it with your naturalisation application.

Hi
Thank you for your time and replying to my question.

The reason why I was asking what is self assessment statement of account, is because my wife has been self employed and going to apply for naturalisations soon. I believe she needs self assessment statement of accounts. She files her accounts through self assessment every year.

I have gone through the link provided and downloaded full calculations sheet, will that be sufficient to send along with the naturalisation application form or does she needs full self assessment pdf file?

Please advise further

Ask sagareva. According to him, my advice doesn't answer your question. :|

1) Regarding benefit overpayment, you have said HMRC has contacted you & put a repayment plan in place so that government agency knows about it and is doing something.
Nothing to worry about for naturalisation.

2) The statement of account apparently comes to you from HMRC.
If you (your wife) did not receive one recently (in past year) suggest contacting your accountant if you have one or else go direct to your local tax office.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
